A list of reasons I will be moving from the evil empire to linux. I will tell more of this as it progress.
Only God know how many are buried in these holes. One of many reasons to whack Saddam.

I am back in the UK with family right now. My Mother-in-Law, wife’s Uncle and Aunt were with us for Thanksgiving. A good time was had by all and even watched a taped NFL game with Budweiser. Everybody was stuffed with turkey and pumpkin pie. It is the simple things of food and family that makes me thankful for gifted life that I live.

I might need one of these, in beige, olive green or formal black in case of an impromptu CQB engagement.

Just had a grand Thanksgiving day, with family from Ireland and England. More to come!

Greetings from, Schwetzingen, Germany. I am here with the US Army doing my duty. The big news in the media was the bombing is Turkey, but most of us here are not paying much attention to it. As one of the sergeants said it is not our problem. The Turks would not let us stage any operations against Saddam from their country and we are closing our bases in Turkey. We will not have much of a presence there, so it is just a civil war between progressive Muslims and radical Wahabi Muslims. Excellent analyses here, here and here.

Recent trends of the EU

Money can buy lots of nice things, but youth is not one of them. Here are some examples of stupid people in Hollywood who cannot realize that we will all get old and looking your age is part of life.
Good news from Mosul, Iraq. Even the BBC gives a thumbs up to the 101st Air Assault Division. I used to train with the Screamin' Eagles and they are great, unless you are with the 82nd Airborne, or the receiving end of rapid vertical insertion.

Maybe this is the reason the French are having a hard time dealing with its slide in the world.

Actual PowerPoint brief from the 101st Air Assault Division about operations in Iraq.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is way to reduce cancer. In HTML or PDF form. Do your part to reduce cancer.

For the past few weeks leading up to Guy Fawkes Day our neighborhood has sounded like Baghdad at night during a thunder run by the US Army. Even my two year old daughter has said “boom boo boo bang” as she smacked her hands together because she could not sleep through the symphony of fireworks. Most houses in our neighborhood have a slot in their front door to put the mail in, so some yobs started to put fireworks through the mail slot and almost burnt a house down. Now the government is planning to ban fireworks. Nice job, A$#@holes.

An in-depth analysis of the Afghan campaign, with some surprising conclusions.

Sorry for not blogging lately. Work has been overwhelming, one of my co-workers retired and I get his workload, instead of management replacing him. Joy, joy and more joy!

A short essay on why Britain is great.

There are a lot of very small cars around here or as they are refered to as micro cars. I seen one of these on the road before and it is small. It is a Liger from France. It has a 505cc engine and seats two. Then there is Aixam. I saw one in at the car park in Nottingham and it looked like a child’s toy. Smart from DailmerChrysler is pretty popular around here. I might rent one when I go to Germany next month or maybe not if I have to go on the autobahn.

One of the nice things about living in England is the food. Contrary to rumor the food is pretty good and the fish and chips are great. I am lucky that there is an award winning chipper right down the street from me: George’s Tradition. It has great food and prices is reasonable. It is a take away, so pick up a sixer of Carling beer and order some fish, chips and mushy peas. It is a pretty good meal!

What future do the EU and the US will have? Here is a study on four possibilities. Ireland and the UK look like they will be the exception to the EU and will do all right.
